![]() The Control center no longer works for me when the screen is locked, I have to unlock before "Swiping" upwards. Eitherways, the behaviour is different than before, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed it. Either this is because the WiFi is switched off whilst the screen is locked (proven), or once unlocked WiFi now take longer to reestablish and Apps therefore try Mobile data. So, what I am saying, is that a change has occurred in iOS 11 that makes these Messages relating to Mobile Data access more frequent, especially when unlocking the screen. For the Myriad of System Services, it's always available - you cant switch them off. Yes, I totally agree with you that data across "Mobile" #G Network isn't WiFi, but when WiFi is not available, Data is sourced via the Mobile Network if the "Mobile Data" function is switched on, and if that App has been permissioned for Mobile Data access. Any advice or ideas would be appreciated. I’m thinking this is a software issue and am worried that if I have to buy a new phone (last resort) that the problem might transfer. I then tried doing a back up and factory reset and that didn’t work either. I have reset the Network settings and that didn’t work. If you turn the Wi-Fi off after turning the phone on and wait a few hours then try and turn it on again it turns itself off straight away too. ![]() If you try and turn the Wi-Fi off (on the phone) it turns itself back on straight away and still doesn’t work. However if you leave the range then it often (but not always) looses the ability to see Wi-Fi signals even though it says it’s turned on. It can stay working for a day or two if you don’t leave the Wi-Fi range of your router. Generally if I turn the phone off then on again the Wi-Fi settings will turn on and find all the signals around and connect. My IPhone seems to loose the Wi-Fi connection after a while and not be able to find it (or any other Wi-Fi) again until you turn phone off and back on again. Wi-Fi only occasionally working Hi there. I’m aware of the “Ask to join network” toggle and this only makes the problem more annoying as it asks to join a network every shop or house you walk past.Hard to believe the richest company (or one of) on earth treats its customers in this way (likely last apple product). So now when im not on my home or work wifi i have to manually disable wifi through settings. So not only is it a potential security issue but it’s quite annoying as well when the internet stops working. In fact usually i notice this because im trying to access internet on my data plan and it‘s not working. The problem is that the iphone had been connecting to random networks when im walking the street and often I can see that the wifi icon is actually connected though the internet doesnt work. When from quick access menu, trying to switch off from blue it only goes to white. The only way to get to off state is via the settings icon. ![]() On the quick access menu, the wifi icon now has 3 possible states (compared to two before): off, on (blue) or white, where iphone will try to connect to a network when in range. Why is this now happening, it's surely a problem - particularly if you stream music overnight whilst you sleep.Īnnoying wifi connection handling ever since ios updated to 11.x and ios 12, my iphone 6 has been very troublesome handling wifi connections. This explains why I've been seeing my data Mobile data usage creep up even though I haven't been away for WiFi. This didn't happen with Prior versions of iOS, so why now ?Īs a consequence of this, iPhone system apps will now use the Carrier's 3/4G network for data (as you can't disable them) and any other application that you may have specifically permissioned for Mobile data access will be able to chew up your Carrier's data allowance. So clearly, whilst the iPhone is in Lock-screen mode, the WiFi is disconnected. This continues until I press the Home button again. Shortly after the iPhone screen goes dark, the Ping results start showing "Request timed out." followed by "Destination host unreachable". So, as a test, a ran a simple "ping" command from my PC, to the IP Address of my iPhone whilst it's attached to my Home Wireless router. Being at home, I'd have expected my iPhone to be constantly connected to my Home WiFi. Whilst at Home, I've been wondering why with the iOS 11 release, I keep seeing messages saying that such and such an application doesn't have access to Mobile data, particularly when unlocking my device.
